Returning items to Polish stores from abroad — is it worth it?

Hi all,

One thing that rarely gets discussed is what happens when you need to return an item purchased from Poland. EU consumer law gives you 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase, but the return shipping cost is on you unless the seller offers free returns.

From personal experience:
- For low-value items (under ~€30), it's often cheaper to keep, sell locally, or donate than to ship back.
- For mid-value items, check if the store has a return portal with a prepaid label — some of the big ones (Zalando, Answear) do.
- For high-value items, always pay for tracked return shipping and insurance.

Parcel forwarders can help here too — some will receive your return, consolidate with other returns, and send one parcel back to the seller on your behalf. Ask your provider if this service is available.

Has anyone found a particularly smooth return process with a Polish retailer?

This matches my experience. Zalando's return portal is honestly one of the smoothest. For multi-store returns I just let the forwarder handle it — Polbox world took back two parcels on my behalf last month and shipped them to the respective Polish warehouses as a single consolidated return, which cut the cost in half.
