Shipping electronics from Poland: warranty and compatibility check

Hi,

Polish electronics prices are very attractive but there are two things you need to think about before ordering:

1. Warranty: most manufacturer warranties are global now (Apple, Samsung, Sony), but check it before buying. Some brands only honour warranty in the country of purchase. If a repair is needed, shipping the device back to Poland isn't fun.

2. Compatibility:
- Plug type: Poland uses Type E (same as France, Germany roughly). If your country uses Type G (UK) or Type B (US), you'll need an adapter or a local power cable.
- Voltage: Poland is 230V/50Hz. Most modern electronics are universal, but always check the power brick (look for "100–240V").
- Keyboard layout: Polish "QWERTY programmers" layout is similar to US; Polish QWERTZ-style is rare. Still, double-check before ordering a laptop.
- TV/radio tuners: DVB-T2 standards can differ per country.

Really useful checklist. I'd also mention EU-wide warranty on phones from Apple and Samsung — I had a claim handled in Germany on a device bought through a Polish store without any issues. On the plug/cable side, most forwarders can add a local power cable or adapter to the parcel before it ships; I've used that option through ParcelPoland a couple of times and it saved me hunting for one locally.
